John, you have made a superb transition to the 1/72 scale! Awesome work. Impressive...

Metal barrels and pitons are better than the kit’s version. What a huge improvement.

Thank you Lyle! It's been an interesting "experiment" and I've largely found that most of the techniques and skills that are used in the big scales are still applicable at 1/72. I think the painting stage will present the most difficulties. I may have to bust out the Badger SOTAR.

The difference is very noticeable in the close-up photos but in real life, not as much!

Thank you very much!

It looks like the S120 camera will be arriving today, ahead of schedule, so I'll have a new toy to test out. I did a little work on the fabric-covered control surfaces, which are presented as separate parts. I thought the ribbing was a little too pronounced so I sanded them down.

The painting of the engine has started and I've given the separate sub-assemblies a base coat of gloss black.

The new camera came in today! It's used but it looks to be in excellent condition.

Much simpler to use for my modeling purposes and it looks like it has a nice short Minimum Focusing Distance so it is easy to get really close to small things, which is key for in-progress model photography.

Looks like a great macro cam. I'm so tempted, but I'm just a lazy iphone user :whiteflag:

Except I hate iPhones. I've always been an android user. My wife has an iPhone and is always asking how to do this or that. I always answer the same. I hate iphones :headbang:

not a fan either, last year the company I retired from had mandatory equipment requirements (they bought/issued/controlled the phones) and everyone had to go to iphone. I had been on android for 6 or so years after walking away from iphone way back.
Anyhow, back to John's build
