The stories are mostly of the fit being bad. Especially the canopy. As you can see from the pics, it's not great.

I know right! I have three go to things I use. For big gaps, or gaps that need structure like wing root seams I use Apoxie sculpt. I usually go in with Perfect plastic where some filling is needed, but there still needs to be a visible connection like on the real thing. My only issue with that stuff is it doesn't hold up very well, and can flake off. My most used stuff is probably Mr. dissolved putty. I'm sure I'll be using all three on this build.

He was the one that offered the P-61 Black Widow Full Upgrade/Correction Set 2 years ago and should be able to put one together for you.

Here's what it looks like.

Thanks for the info. I think I will be alright. I'm going to give it a try first anyway. If I find it completely impossible to get looking decent I'll send out an email. I'm kind of considering this build to be a good challenge of my skills. See what I can overcome.

Here's a post he made in regards to his products years ago.

Quoted from 109ace:

I am no longer offering my sets on Ebay. I am only selling direct. I have a list of all available sets pinned to my Facebook group "Models By 109ace". It is a open, public group that does not require membership to view. You can Google it and view without Facebook membership. From this you can send me personal messages and such. Ordering is easy by choosing the items you want, emailing me at 109ace@sbcglobal.net and include your Paypal address. I will return to you, a invoice that you may use to pay. Shipping ( which covers multiple items is a flat $5 in USA, Canada/Mexico is a flat $10, and international shipping is a flat $15.
I have new releases coming soon. Including a newly engineered 1/48 PB4Y-2 Privateer. With an eye on less parts, easier build. I've done a lot of the work for the builder. Also a 1/48 resin/ clear vac B-17C/D with full, 4 piece, ready to build fuselage. just add main wings. I will be releasing soon update sets (2) for the 1/48 classic Monogram Typhoon.
I know some have phobias with buying direct as it does require some thought and efforts. I know and expect to see a reduction in my sales. I have no issue with that.

Sorry, Keyda. I posted that last post before refreshing the page to see if you had responded yet. It's an option if you find yourself backed into a corner.

Hey, I may build autos these days but I've been known to have a strong interest in and actually build an aircraft from time to time.

To make each build less crappy than the last one. Or, put another way, "Better than the last one, not as good as the next one!"..

My son gave me this Revell P-61 Black Widow kit for Christmas last year. Started on it earlier this past spring, so yeah... this kit is horrible and it pissed me off. I'd rather have the original Monogram white box P-61 kit than the Revell brand.

I can't tell how many times I've almost smashed it during the build. I stopped and put it away until something better comes along. Maybe the original Monogram Black Widow kit is in my future.

Got a little bit of time at the bench yesterday, and today. So I finished off what I had to do with the interior, and put the fuselage halves together. So far so good. Went together fine. I was careful and paid attention to make sure everything was where it was supposed to be.

Once the fuselage halves were together I started messing with PE that goes inside the wing. Here is what you have with the kit, which has to be removed.

The PE piece that wasn't all that bad to fold up. Shockingly enough.

Test fit in the wing. Looks better than the kit plastic.

I should have some time at the bench tomorrow, so we'll see how things go. Maybe I can get the wings put together, and start doing some seam work. My plan with the canopy is to test fit, sand, or fill where needed until I can get it looking decent. I feel like that is going to be the hard part.
