Man lemme tell you , I've done TWO of my regular builds worth of body work on this ONE build here. Un-believable! Simply unbelievable.
In between sanding, reapplying putty/ super glue and more sanding the air intakes I switched over to what I was going to do with the guns.................or whatever the hell these things are! I think I've seen 'em in Disney Infinity once or twice as toilet paper roll guns...

Somebody tell me and we'll both know what these are supposed to be..........



So I lopped off the appendages :



Cut off some syringe needles that my wife was kind enough to bring home to me:



Drilled out the cannon fairings to create a recessed area like what's supposed to be there and then drilled some smaller holes within those recessed areas to hold the barrels and came up with this:



I think that'll work.

awesome! were the syringes full when she brought them home? I would like to have the ability to drill out holes in that manner. I seem to create a fork in the road !

Sorry , syringes were brand new in the package and empty. lol
It just takes being able to really see what you are doing and to center up perfectly. No muss...no fuss.
Those pin vises really come in handy.

Thanks Jimmy! Yeah she's a nurse....................that works in a clinic. lol . If I stopped here and didn't do a single additional modification to this thing it would still be worlds apart from where I started. I still plugged away on it though....

Back to gaps and filling. This is what the initial wing fit was on the starboard wing. Not only are all the mating surface fits ate up like a soup sandwich but that stupid hinge slot is screaming to be filled. Don't worry about the air intake area. I wasn't quite finished with that yet. I got that sanded down and evened out as well.



Got a number tab from the sprue:



Cut it off,


Trimmed 'er up, squared it off and installed it.



I cut off the excess, got the edge all squared away and started working on outer wing to inner wing fit.

VMFA-332 started in WW2 with SBD's, then went to TBF's, and was disbanded at the end of the war, or shortly there after. They were re-instated during the Korean war, operating the F4U-4B...they got em from the Navy...they were the ones with the checkerboard cowl. As a side note....before the Navy squadron handed them over, somebody painted the white band and polka dots as a joke. The Marines said haha, jokes on you, we're keeping it!...and wore it through every aircraft change until they ended with the F-18D in 2004(IIRC). The only reason I know, is because my brothers first squadron was VMFA(AW)-332 "Moonlighters"...he then went to VMFA-225 "Vikings, another tour in Iraq...blah, blah, blah....


Anyway, to answer the ???
The -4B had a pair of 20mm (I believe) cannons in each wing. They are supposed to be staggered though...like so...
(1/32 Trumpy -4, converted to a -4B)

I just did the research today (since I'm off) on those cannons you were talking about Fermis. I found out that they were 20mm but I didn't know they were supposed to be staggered. Man......it's too late. I've already got this sucker painted. No turnin' back now. Thanks for the info though. Will be using it in the future.
