If your link looks like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7gmZ9X9Aplk

Just paste the ID (everything after the equal sign) between the youtube in brackets

For this video I pasted 7gmZ9X9Aplk like this

Code: Select all

And Walla!

Thanks,
John

"Night's Dawn" was my introduction to the super sagas of Peter Hamilton! If you're reading these for the first time, I truly envy you. The books are on the shelves next to me as I type this; I was gifted these and knowledge of the author by a Canadian automobile mechanic who used to go to my coffee shop. One day he came into the shop with a brown bag weighted by the entire series of books and said to me, "Here, I'm leaving town and you should have these." This was truly one of those moments that turn your life on to something/someone/an ethos completely new. I found the religiosity of the books to be therapeutic. The "Commonwealth Saga" has a secondary story of a wealthy bohemian software designer and richest man in the verse Ozzie Isaacs going walkabout in a land that I decided was Hamilton's version of "Lord of the Rings" if one accepts the Elves as Aliens. That part was a lot of fun. The primary story was one of humanity's curiosity (hence the star named "Pandora," yes, like the Cameron films) opening the box (ie the prison) holding an entire alien race hostage with predictable shattering results.
Thanks for the recommendations Bruce, I'll check some more of his work out!

(That was a really nice thing for him to do that)

Wow, this thread was on page 10-ish when I last dropped in. I'm so in awe (again) by your artistic approach to build a model kit.
It's all done so thoughtful and with great craftsmanship. Your feel for colors and materials and the way they fade and detoriate is unmatched.

I'm sure your Camel will ride all dunes to come with bravour!
Cheers,
Torben

Thanks so much, Torben!

Let’s see how Google Translate does!

Ihre Arbeit inspiriert mich. Ich erinnere mich an jedes Projekt. Sie setzen einen hohen Anspruch an uns alle und sind dennoch bescheiden und unterstützen uns tatkräftig, wenn wir straucheln. Mein aufrichtiger Dank!

Thanks again, John!

YouTube link above—

That’s extremely helpful knowledge and I’m very appreciative. I kept trying utterly bizarre combos trying to come up with the right way. Thank you so much. Thank you!

Bruce! I can't wait to see that Camel finished!
Just looking at the red painted cowling and the fine engine, everything is spot on.
Usually, especially my own models, come to life when the decals are on. This one here is already, at every step of the building process. And you made imperfections of the very old kit looking as the imperfections of the real thing. Nothing is questionable.
Congratulations!

Thanks so much, Marius! I truly appreciate your support!

I ordered AK Markers from Amazon, without checking that the shipping would be from Czechoslovakia—nice shop as it turns out—but when I received the package the number of the part used to match the item was incorrect on Amazon—and I was shipped AK Putty instead. All of this caught me by surprise and I’m afraid I lost my temper at first. To make a long story short, the shop promised to ship the right item to me. Now that I know the shop is in Czechoslovakia I’m not expecting the package any time soon, which leaves me thinking about what to do next with this project.

One element to be determined is the cockpit. I’ll admit to taking longer than usual to finesse this part of the project due to some uncertainty on my part about how far to take the detailing. The Tom’s Model Works 1/28 British cockpit is probably going to finally come out of the package and see some use!

My quick review of AK Markers which came from Michigan Toy Company in advance of the Amazon Czech versions—

I prepped a flat surface with two coats of white primer.

I tried using wood base, which is quite finicky to lay down with a marker tip, then I tried the wood colors in the pack which were brown and red.

Not for me.

My $.02 on AK markers. The colors are nice, but not quite usable as listed. With some additional washes, tints, or whatnot, yes. But look for other colors in the set to fill your needs, other that what’s listed by name. Alternatives work better with these.
