Thanks guys! Just a bit more before heading up to the Bay area tomorrow morning.

The drop tank was given a dark wash.


It was allowed to fully dry before I started blotting with a slightly damp paper towel. Wiping motions were kept perpendicular to any panel lines to help keep the wash from being removed completely.



Another set of photos of the prop assembly against a darker background to check my work. I find that good digital photo documentation of the build are a great way to improve the quality of the work. At first, it can be pretty discouraging to see your flaws magnified but it will eventually tighten up your error tolerances and push your technique to higher levels.

Thanks guys! Back from Berkeley but I'm not yet in the mood for modeling. I'm very proud of my daughter starting college but it's also a sad time for me and I can't do much of anything when I'm feeling sad. So forgive me while I wallow in this for a bit... I'll be back to normal in a few days, I reckon.

I used a Dremel with a cone-shaped grinding stone. A Dremel-clone to be more exact. I commandeered it from a friend in exchange for a few custom painted lures. It is of limited use since all but the lowest speed setting is enough to melt styrene plastic.

I know where you are John. I've had two of my four leave the nest. One went to UCLA and has done fantastic since then, and the other joined the Air Force and is now with the Flying Tigers. But yes, having them leave does take a part of you, no matter how good they're doing.

Glad you are back, John. Congratulations to you and Carlos for raising some great kids! My dad would say, "Roots and Wings" were his goals for raising me. Proud of you guys.

Very nice work there kim. You're really throwin' the whole nine yards at this thing aincha? Good to see you back. I haven't gone through sending my son off yet. Still got a few years while he's on loan to us. Gonna miss him when that time comes.

Ah the joy's of Fatherhood. I'm certainly going to miss my Daughter when she goes. Alas my fear for my Son is that he'll never be able to leave home, go to collage or do anything with his life. But anyway...
