Wonderful work, John Eaton! Very inspiring. It is too late now, but I wish I had held to my original course and built strictly from the box the way and Carlos chose. Too late. Too late. I splashed some Tamiya IJN Grey-Green over the tan canvas color of the upper wing surfaces in preparation for the freehand camouflage painting job. My thought was this was a much better base than the other color, and the Grey-Green was available from my last TOS Enterprise project, so why not? Indeed.
I am very excited to paint this camouflage freehand. Here is a modern day recreation of the technique itself:
Cool!

I hesitated posting that image sans light box effects, but I am glad I did. Still much to adjust but the task of painting at scale seems to be working.
Look at these two fellas, recreating a dog fight!
Thank you, Kari. Sincerely it is I who honor you, my friend. First for your interests in WWI history (having tramped the battleground), and your exquisite fine scale model building. So. Thank you! Your work inspires me greatly. I keep thinking about your unpainted Fokker Dr.1. Such a good way to understand process. Sincerely. An honor.
Lyle, thank you so much for always being there, and your encouragement as well.
Stuart, I am reading your blog through Facebook and am grateful for your methods and detailed descriptions. Truly. Thank you so much for being a part of SPAM as well.
Eindecker, but wonderful at scale!
