I like seeing the surface details emerge as the RLM 76 goes on. Due to other obligations, I haven't progressed any further on Black One but it doesn't look like this is generating much interest here anyways.

I am still interested, John, so please do not feel there is a lack of interest on my part. I had a busy weekend, though, due to other obligations. I allocate time to your progress from respect for your work and by extension respect for you. I will follow you wherever you go. I am here. I read, follow, comment and respond.

This reminds me of another builder of Enterprise models. He was an amazing researcher whose work I kept track of online. He became conflicted and threatened to destroy his research due to lack of fellowship amongst board members. He asked for a call to action and too few answered him. It was at this time that I decided to stop being on the sidelines and build models again.

I would not be here writing to you if I did not find your build ideas to be... fascinating, lol. Please forgive me for not commenting over the weekend.

As far as general board activities here, I feel our German members have an election and upcoming model show in their sights, our local boys here in California are gearing up for Orangecon next week... so I expect to see more responses when time permits.

Hey Bruce! That was just an observational comment on my part. I'm not planning on going anywhere but was wondering if my 30+ page build was of waning interest here. I really enjoy sharing my work and talking about modeling and I'm planning on finishing my Black One build here at SPA. Gotta finish what ya start right? Everyone has a different build/posting style and this one is admittedly long. I think I've populated it with good content but you never know what other people think. I always hope that my work generates conversation and that lack of conversation was what I was questioning/lamenting.

I am entertained!

Well that makes two of us! I actually value my own posts very highly as a resource. Besides the therapeutic value of sharing stuff online, I like to refer to my past builds as references to current/future builds. Especially helpful if you are building the same kit. But thanks for your input and support! I really appreciate it and I'm sure there are others that were simply too busy this weekend to post a comment on my updates. The summer fishing is coming to a close. I have one more Barrett Lake outing this weekend and then a 2.5 day tuna trip in October so I should have more time to devote to modeling in the weeks to come.

The extent to which people respond or not respond as the case may be is one I do not dwell upon. Sometimes they just lurk in the shadows, watching it all unfold in a magnificent build. The tips and techniques are stored in the back of the memory box in the hope they may be emulated.

I for one find this build a great treat, even though I rarely comment.

Thank you for the comments! The point about people reading and appreciating build reports without leaving comments is a good reminder for me. But I'd be lying if I said that I didn't care about receiving/not receiving comments. I am here for the interaction, not just for the presentation, if that makes sense. Especially important to me since this is my only outlet... I don't have any friends or know anyone that shares this hobby. I've always been curious about model shows and clubs but I have never attended one.

Likewise, I feel connected through the fellowship that is shared here by model builders and I take in probably way more deeply than I should what happens when a forum goes quiet. Part of this is my limited experience with serious model builders. I have to add that having revisited your gallery, John... I just feel very proud that I know you. Has it been just three years since you began again? When was the rekindling spark, how did you find your way back to building models again? I'm so curious about what creates the spark of interest. And wow, revisiting your gallery was a treat...

Okay, question about the build. Based on what you have done using the cut foam to fill the areas of the wheel wells I have questions. Why, what holds the foam in place, does this mean you want a controlled overspray soft edge that creates a factory camo in a used condition? After I saw your usage of the technique, I did a little research and was unable to decide what the advantages were to using this instead of strips of paper with a water to bind and shape...??

John, I understand the disappointment when no feedback is received. I know that I like to post a little something on any threads in here is nobody else does. Just to let folks know that somebody is paying attention and looking in. And maybe it's me, but the forum does seem to be slower and more quiet in the past few weeks.
Quite frankly, I find your work on this build stunning, from start to finish. You use a lot of techniques that are new to me, and this thread is quite eye opening for me.
