John,
Thank you for stopping in with the good word! And let me tell you, I understand how it is with the fishing. I know all about that. There were several evenings there as Summer was winding down where my wife would say “Don’t worry about dinner time and bedtime with the babies, I got this. Why don’t you go fishing.” ... and I’d grab my gear and my uke, buy a six pack, and spend the evening on the bayou, fishing and playing my uke and drinking beer. Bro, I hooked up with a very large bowfin when I was down there fishing for bluegills. I was using my medium/light rod and BOOM! he hit my lure and we had ourself a fight, after which old boy broke off at the bank. Man... I went back the following week just to see if I could hook him again. No dice. Anyway, I’m glad you’re getting back to it too. And I have to admit, I’m a bit jealous, those 1/32 Corsairs are awesome!
Kent,
And thank you as well buddy! Much appreciated!!

Re: 1:48 Tamiya Corsair
The F4U Corsair always has been my favorite aircraft during the Pacific Theater of WW2. I have done a couple Corsairs in my youth years starting with the Revel version from the Baa Baa Black Sheep television show during the 70s. I haven't got one in my stash but like to do another someday. Anyway.... looking forward to more progress on this build. She's coming along really good. I never knew about the coral weathering in the wheel wells and such.

It’s a favorite of mine too.
As to the coral weathering, this is pure speculation on my part, I definitely want to say that up-front. This aircraft was based out of Munda Airfield, and it got super dirty out there from what I can tell in what I believe is like, the only extant photo of it. And I’m assuming that coral dust and salt played hell with the finish on these aircraft out there. And I’d assume that it would build up in certain places like gear bays and the lower portion of the cockpit. But that’s just my thinking on it, and I could be totally wrong (LOL that has been known to happen). In other words, from other photos I’ve seen of other birds out there, the pinkish brown orange isn’t rust, it’s coral dust. But that’s an assumption and it might not be the reality at all.
Here’s the reference pic for my subject:

Re: 1:48 Tamiya Corsair
I have been again on worktrips and therefore no comments or reactions...
But cannot say anything else than...
I-JUST-LOVE this seat, the paintwork, weathering, details, everything!
It's just so tasty!

Kari,
Thank you! Maybe the third time is the charm for me and model airplanes
LOL Who knows. I just wasn’t happy with my last one and I’m not sure why. There’s just something about Attempt #2 that bothered me. But I am 100% happy with this one. All the way. So THANK YOU!!
Mr. Black Sheep,
And thank you! I’m actively trying to push for realism, the fact that this project will most likely turn out being “overweathered” in the eyes of some notwithstanding. So Inappreciate that. I’ve been looking at a lot of Roy’s stuff in the Ready Room and it all looks so real. So your comment makes me feel like I’ve taken a solid step in that direction and I appreciate that.

... and it makes a huuuuge difference just how your approach has grown and continues to grow as you find your unique methods to translate the effects of usage and environmental factors at a scale level. Congratulations!
Make more models!

It was all worth it. Everything. Even all the fumbles. All the mistakes. All the aircraft I accidentally dropped.
