Hello! First before I start thinking about a Fw 190 V1 in any scale, let me give thanks specifically to Mr X and Torben for your words on this bright sunny day in Los Angeles. You gents added to the brightness of what has essentially been a week of juggling grenades and chainsaws. In fact, you all add so much! Sincerely. I am still standing thanks to being able to reduce the stress through what must be the slowest cockpit build on the books. Also thank you John for what you wrote about the comparative designs of a U.S. WWII fighter and a German one—most illuminating as I have privately compared the size of this cockpit to the P-51D. I think a lot about that and whether or not the Mustang P-51 is a U.S. version of a Spitfire design wise. In my opinion the Fw cockpit looks modern to me in ways the Mustang does not. This is no judgement of quality; it is a pure design observation. I believe the same observations exist in cars manufactured after WWII. Call this a ramble.

I personally found Torben’s post with diagrams attached to be a huge boon. It was not so much the diagrams that were the boon; it was his descriptions! I was thinking anything with a cable held a version of ground air radio when attached to the control stick, but of course the tip of the stick is the firing button and safety (I think). Anyway the firing control has to be linked to the weapons. Maybe also the electrical controls engage a heat system to warm up the guns, too. Long way round, thank you, buddy. You made sense of the system itself.

A more important note would be the release of a 1/48 Fw 190 V1. That is fantastic news. Only the scale should be 1/32.... seriously, though I would shoot the lock off my wallet for one of those kits. Although I wish it was made by Trimaster.... and so, the rationalizations begin.

For some reason I thought classic airframes was out of business.

So far the control stick is looking sweet, your pace and attention to every detail is really starting to show, it's going to look awesome in that pit!

Clint—thanks so much! The pace is slow. Does anyone get enough hobby time? I had just enough daylight to spray paint then I was cleaning air brush for awhile, went to the gym, came home and decided to add a placard on the back of the grip, did that with a spare placard thanks to Eduard’s thoughtful doubling up of many small pieces, then decided adding graphite to the curing enamel would be interesting so I added the water soluble “Graphitone.”





I did a quick search for Classic Airframes. What the owner did in 2009 was a full clearance of his inventory—a clean slate. He goes on to add that he is not closing CA, but he was not making a profit so he decided to cash out instead of go out of business. Apparently he put his business back together in the intervening years and is moving forward with new releases!

At this moment my hobby time is on negative... in other words feel I am really going backwards, which is of course unfortunate.

The control stick looks just outstanding! Love the idea of using a toothpick, just so great solution!

Kari! Hullo! You are in my thoughts! Are you still in India? Instagram provides a telegraphic series of images which rotate faster and faster still! I never feel you are slipping at all! You skip from place to place and sometimes subject to subject, but always always always you provide great depths. Your steps are a guide I have used to see through the ordinary approach.

Are you familiar with “Crazy Make ‘Em Ups?” That is a term we use on shoots to describe “on the fly” solutions. The toothpick is definitely one of those. Plus the long pick gives me a handle for painting and hanging the cable.
