For the final touch...scratchbuilt beaching dolly.

The only part that worried me, was the wheels...but I found a pair of 1/48 A-20 nose wheels in the scrap box that scale out less than a 1/2mm small...close enough! The caster wheels came off an engine rack, also in the scrap box.
Other than the wheels and rails(brass rod) I only used sheet styrene.
Starting with the main deck, I scribed out some planks, than run a piece of heavy grit sandpaper over it, to give it a bit of grain. Thinned "Italian Sand" was brushed over the bare, white styrene. I used cut strips for the frame.

Painting....

Painted the blocks "wood" also, then put a coat of hair spray on the "wood" only.



Sprayed a "red oxide" mix on the "metal" areas...



Cleaned off the overspray...easy to do with a little water and stiff brush. Then gave another coat of hair spray of the entire thing.



Some RLM66 on top of that...



Using a stiff brush and some water, I chipped away at it...

Some washes and a little more weathering...DONE!

Looks freakin awesome. How'd you get the plans for the Dolley???

I bet they were on the back of an AriZona tea can! Nicely done, Fermis.

I scaled it off of Italeri's 1/48 dolly that came with the kit.
Take a measurement...multiply by 48....= 1/1, Divide by 72... =72nd scale

I still can't believe that styrene dolley is NOT wood...freakin amazing...

I was pleasantly surprised myself, by the "wood" painting. In the past, I had to use several colors and I still wasn't really convinced...this just kinda happened!

Next.....I got a super secret whiffery project going, and I'll be gettin a pair of little 190's going here in short order. Have airport duty tomorrow and Wednesday...Wed. night is the last night of ski league...Thursday morning is gonna be rough!!! Benching will resume sometime Thursday afternoon.

Please post pic of that bottle of "Italian Sand" paint...I gotta get some of that!!!

Even if expected an high end works as usual outstanding skill, i think this is the best work i see from Fermis
