I must say that I'm impressed with the drastic improvement of your modeling skills over the past couple of years...

FINALLY got some bench time, when I wasn't tired of snow & roof-leaking issues. Started decals a few nights ago, got the wing taken care of:





Then, I tackled the fuselage, again. I started using cardboard masks to try & replicate the field-applied patchiness (is patchiness a real word?) but quickly saw I wasn't going to like the results. Parked it for farrrr too long before I broke down & got out the UHU poster-tac. (No reall, they tell me you can use this stuff to attach posters to walls, go figure?!)

All wormed up:


The final product:




As I was adding the putty & referring to the marking guide... it hit me... I didn't pre-paint the white theatre band. No problem, Tamiya flat white - with a drop of tan - actually covers pretty well.

This is nowhere close to as bad as I thought it was gonna be based on the complex scheme you were undertaking...and stuff...

Thanks Manny! Yep, I've got to admit I was torn - the splinter camo actually came out quite well, I almost changed my mind & stuck with that. But, me being me, I like the odd stuff. (two different styles of overpainting camo makes it double-odd.) Had to do the overspray.

What d'f#$%^& happens on my bench when I'm not around??!??!??!? [aah]





Decals on...





Wing... starting the process... nervous about alignments. The "struts halfway out the main struts" are trying to connect a little to far towards the tail. Need to do a little twisting, or something. [hmm]

I'm beginning to give a F+CK about this build...

That's a lovely bit of work - I like the camo.

Thanks portman, I hadn't done any desert camo recently, had to go for it! Ahhh, the cat. Great little buddy, but she has a tendency to go for the high ground when the wife is around.

I'll just leave these here for further conversation. The daughter looked at it, closely, for a good 5 minutes. Proclaimed "well that sucks", and went to bed.





The two large main struts slot into the fuselage nice & solid after I sanded the corners a touch. Maybe a touch low on the trailing edge of the wing, but not bad. The other struts... well, I think the technical term is "caddywhompus". Not even close. Thinking I now need to rebuild those "N" shapes with... stretched sprue (inconsistent but easily attached) or brass rod.
