6th Update

We laid our hands on Zero Paints for the first time. Ducati Senna Grey to be exact. Ayrton Senna himself chose this color for all Ducati special editions, starting with the 916 back in 1995, shortly after the tragic death of the famous Formula One driver.
The 1199 Panigale S Senna Edition is limited to 161 bikes, the number of F1 Grand Prix Senna raced. The full receipts are donated to the Senna Foundation in Brazil.

Before the gas tank and all fairing parts were painted with Senna Grey, some very delicate PE parts had to be applied. They represent the fasteners on the side skirts of the bike


Zero Paints behave similar to Alclad, though a bit less smelly. For the gloss finish we chose Mr.Hobby Aqueous H30. After applying two coats diluted by 50% decals went on. On top of another two coats we gave the surfaces a serious shot with laquer thinner of the same brand. This extends drying time, but the finish is mirror-like

The black parts will get a satin finish later on

Jupp, happend while slipping over the rubber tire. Was a tight fit I tell ya!
Should have turned the wheel 3° clockwise to hide it...

Man I hate it when that happens and then I hate it when I have an afterthought like that and it's too late. No worries, if you hadn't pointed it out I woulda never saw it. Great job on this bike so far! Wow!

When do Iget to ride it? LOL! That looks too real to be a kit. Awesome work!

Exactly. It's an easy way to achieve a fantastic finish. The downside is that it takes ages to cure. Even with gloves on the heat of your fingertips can melt it three days after applying. Guess how I know...

7th (and last) update

The final parts went on to the bike. We made some attachement pins for the brake and shift tubes


Front and back light, gas tank, seat support and brake callipers were attached


Next to seat parts, licence tag holder with blinkers and the prominent fairing parts


Only rear mirrors are missing now. Time to get my photo tent out of the basement.
