This engine exhaust will be a major focus of the finished build later. I like your colour build-up, Monty. Tamiya enamels, again?

Mr.HOBBY COLOR Thinner is only intended to thin the water-based, "aqueous" acrylics. In contrast, Mr.COLOR Thinner dilutes pretty much any product from the range of Gunze finishing products.

Thanks Eric! I'd forgotten that there were several different types of Mr. Thinner. Yes, I use the one with the dark blue label on it with my Mr. Surfacer 500. I think I should start posting pics next time I describe this stuff. I used this combo a lot on my latest Saturn V project.

Monty, I'm taking notes on how you did this. Looking great. I could do this as well on aircraft that don't have carbon fiber nozzle petals.

yeah, its enamels. I hate the smell. ugh! trying to divest from it and move to acrylics but i has proven to be slow, Thomas

Onto the painting section. all using straight Tamiya paint, except for the green. I got the source from this forum in the Large Scale Planes. very useful. now I am really dependent on Tamiya paint so it really helps http://forum.largescaleplanes.com/index ... ic=44949

The sandy desert color is a basework of Tamiya XF-59Desert Yellow, topped with Tamiya XF-57 Buff (lighter shade)



The use of my trusty blu-tack as usual. making sure that the demarcation line is soft-edged



Here, spraying dose of XF-9 Hull Red for the base color, which will be topped with XF-79 Linoleum Deck Brown (again, lighter shade)



Here after the Sufa gets its green color with XF-71 Cockpit Green and XF-21 Sky as top lighter shade. the color is based on the Large Scale Aircraft Forum. In my opinion, its a bit too dull, Sufa's green has a bit yellowish tint to it.



So what I did was to make a new mix of XF-21 Sky but adding a drop of XF-4 Yellow Green. The result... as you can observe is closer to reference photos of the real A/C. comments?

You're right. That new color is spot on. I also think it looks better since you put it over the darker color too. Way to go Monty! Fantastic work!
