Thanks Gents! I have to say that now I've made up my mind I',m looking forward to it. Those resin AM engines look nice Bruce.... I'l see how the kit parts look first. As I said I've bought the Eduard Big Ed set for it - it's huge! I paid more for it than I did the kit!

I should have some Humbrol #167 somewhere, if not it's easy to pick up here. Thanks for the picture Bruce - I'm guessing that's not enamel?

Here is Tamiya XF-32 RAF spray can (actually sprayed on a spoon) compared to the top of a tin of Humbol’s 167? I know this is all very subjective, but are you planning to spray or brush paint the exterior? I would go to the hardware store and check spray cans out. Whatever you are thinking, just keep us looped in... the loop!

I assume this kit is Italeri 1/48?

Thanks for the call outs Bruce - Yes I had intended to brush paint it but I might look into the tamiy a sprays.

The kit's 1/72 - I think if I came home with a 1/48 kit I'd be sleeping outside in the box!!! .

I laughed and cringed if possible to do both at such a reply. I would be tempted to use Mr Surfacer in a spray can. I have been switching to air brush but lemme tell you straight—shake that can for three and a half minutes and spray lightly and you will have a very smooth finish.

I was thinking I would base coat that primer as your barley grey and follow up with one of Tamiya’s Aircraft Sprays (AS). If you need me to test samples from my stock please ask. The plastic spoons are takeaways from the local kebab house. I think I have RAF, USAF, IJN and German drab green paints in the AS line up available.

I would recommend the spray can too given the size of the C-130. Check out this Stuka that was painted with Tamiya spray cans...

That is one big, beautiful plane cutting a striking shadow over the desert! Where do you find these tasty images??? And if you say you just googled it... ah, well, your Google is better than mine... what a frame! I have not seen “A Bridge Too Far” since I was a wee lad by the side of a ditch and all the adults seemed ten feet tall to me!

Exactly. Exactly. I saw a 1/32 Wingnut Wings biplane painted with spray cans and felt so small after that. That was a shock. Fella won awards, too.

A good spray can is not to be trifled with!
