Nosir, unfortunately it didn’t. I’m gonna try tomorrow, they’re saying it’ll be warmer. I like Tamiya’s Flat Clear but I don’t trust it with oils and terps on it, I really want to use my Mr. Hobby Flat Clear to seal those decals and stuff. The Big Guns, know what I mean?

And on an unrelated note- my wife and I were in the couch watching Frasier, and we heard a strange noise. She jumped up and said “What the Hell was that?” And I said- “That sounded like the bridge on my new Martin ukulele come blasting off!” and I was correct. Had it back from the shop for a week and it broke again.

I’m never going to own another Martin instrument. Ever. :-(

What a disappointment.

But at any rate, I’m still happy with my tank, and I’ll try again to seal it tomorrow! And thank you for the good word, on that my man! Heh, I like models that don’t hVe too many decals.

OH! And on another, other note- I just got me a 1:35 Firefly from Dragon. Their latest one. I’m excited about that. I’ll build it and document it right here.

Heh. Life’s a mixed bag. :-D

Wow! I am glad nobody was hurt when the Martin decided to self-destruct! What is going on, in your opinion—and what about havin' the factory repair or replace? Again, sorry to hear about this. Switching from negative to positive—I'm excited to see how you handle weathering the tank, and I was wondering if you could apply John's 'salt fading effect" to upper surfaces, perhaps? I would like to know what your game plan is. Cheers!

P.S. Firefly! I wanna see the sprues! Have you opened 'er up yet?

Bruce,

I’ll send it to the Mfg. but I’m not holding out hope. Buddy is the best Luthier in Lafayette and I’m still gibsmacked that it broke again after he fixed it. But yeah, I’ll be sending it to Martin and see what they can do.

Now, to business-

I actually ordered the Firefly from Scale Hobbyist. And I’ll happily show you the dories as soon as it gets here in the mail. :-D From what I read, Dragon did two releases before this one, and this one is a significant improvement over the others. It was well-received and I’m stoked about it. So yeah man, I’ll definitely post spruce pics when it arrives.

As to Panzer, yes sir, I’m planning on using salt fading. I have a rough outline for how I want to do the weathering. Let me know what you think about this:

1. Dry brushing (to pick out the details)
2. Oil filters (streaks of thinned burnt umber I’m thinking)
3. Salt fading (or should I do that as step 2 and have the oil filters be step 3?)
4. Some pigments for dust
5. Mud. (Not too much mud. But some mud)

What do you think!?

Thank you, Bruce! I’ll give that a read at bedtime tonight. Whichll be early today because my bébés have given me a cold :-( headache, fever, soreness, malaise. No working on my model today. Better to rest on the couch.

Hey Kenny!

How are you? It's great to see you back on the boards and at the bench. Sorry to hear you've had a cold, I hope you fight it off quickly!

The Panzer is looking awesome - the colour modulation in the paint is great.

Cheers!

Stuart

PS. You are hereby officially entered into the great SPAM Armour Group build BTW.

Ah, Bruce! Thank you! This is gonna help me a whole lot, and I appreciate it.

And Stuart! Thank you buddy for the good word, and the welcome and the kind words about my tank! How does the group build work?

I feel all beat-up. I was okay this morning but real sore. I did a lot at the gym on Tuesday and Wednesday, I just figured it was DOMS. But around 10 the fever started. My wife had this on subday. It’s a weird one. You get sore, and a headache tat Advil won’t even put a dent in, and a fever. And in her case it was gone the next day. Weird stuff. I’m hoping I’ll be better tomorrow.

We’re keeping Vance home from daycare tomorrow. He has another ear infection and he’s coughing a lot. I’ll try to break away and get the Flat Clear on the Panzer when he goes down for his nap.

Meanwhile, I’ll be looking over the stuff my man Bruce put up here.

I know the feeling too well. I remember when mine got sick with a cold. I caught it and it is brutal. Get well soon. Have some chicken soup. That always helps.

Sorry to hear you're feeling crap Kenny, and really sorry to hear the little man has an ear infection - that sucks. You're doing the right thing keeping him at home. There have been some really strange bugs going around this year - my kids have brought home some REALLY nasty ones as well.

I hope you're both felling better soon. I know what you mean about the headaches though - I've had a week of really bad migraines. :whiteflag:

Thank God we've got these cool models to take our minds of it.. and our wives. I have to say I've very much like you. Husband first and everything else second.

Cheers Dude!
