I often speculate what the results would be if everyone I know who builds models was given a Monogram 1:48 Tiger Shark, bottle paint, brushes and tube glue.

Great looking props Bruce - I'm looking forward to seeing some progress on this. I've built quite a few FROG kits over the years and found them to be fun builds with surprisingly good fit.

The DO-17 was the first twin engine aircraft I ever built - back in the 80's. But I built the old suffix kit in blue plastic!

That’s what’s been holding me back from resin. The sawing....

Honestly as you move up in scale size of the casting block does increase, which makes sawing more of a challenge. I suppose with these smaller parts fragility is a factor. A good saw—Zona makes a very good series of cutting tools—will make short work of even the big blocks on 1/32 pieces.

Okay. I did some research.

VDM - Vereinigte Deutsch Metallwerke or United German Metalworks founded in 1930 built the propellers. Most of you know this. I did not. So this was good news. I now know that this propeller with controllable pitch is made of metal and will adjust my approach accordingly.

The next issue will be whether or not the hub was black or black green. At the moment, I am inclined to follow Owl's profile and paint the hub black green with RLM 23 marking colors.

Ken, of course—plus their saws have removable blades and are a great value. Also check out their X-Acto knife blades. Amazing!

Any thoughts on gun replacements?

Probably won't be seeing too much of the guns through all of the frames on the clear parts. Save your money and buy the ICM kit instead!

Good advice, John, although I already ordered 2 pair of Eduard MG15s from my usual fella on eBay. With a discount for quantity and free shipping I feel good. I think of this as a painting exercise for me. Building and painting Eduard’s resin and etch guns will be good. I can always transfer all of them to a better kit. However you are quite right to advise me about ICM. I will definitely keep watch for one on Sprue Brothers.
