Apologies for the crap photos, but the light here is awful at the moment and all of my cameras have flat batteries so I had to use my crappy old Samsung phone

So I put two layers of Hiumbrol Enamel 65 down on the undersides, using my dab painting technique with a wet no 4 brush. I've kept it fairly messy as I wanted some tonal variation in the paint. After it dried I then added some MIG enamel wash to various places to add some depth/shadow to the final finish.



Whilst the wash was still wet, I dabbed another loose layer of the base colour all over the surface, and especially over the wash to blend it in a bit. some bits I went a bit too heavy with so I'll need to redo the wash in places, and give it another light coat of 65 in places.



I'll try and take some better pictures later.

Nice finish on the RLM65, did you thin the Humbrol before applying?

Oh yes indeed - I always add some thinners to the paint pot as it's far too thick on it's own. I also use a wet brush (I have a small pot of thinners I dip it in) and small amounts of paint on the brush only.

Danke, I have had some pots that almost seemed prediluted??? I am finding an enamel alternative to MM enamel since they went the way of the Dodo.....

I've found that Humbrol enamels can be a bit hit and miss in this respect. They've changed the place of manufacture at least 3 times since I started using them - mainly due to poor quality. They can vary a lot in thickness - some massively thick and others like water. It's great paint though - you just need to manage it.

I stop painting with them for a few years as I moved over to acrylic - but I've gone back recently It's generally a much nice paint to deal with. Revel makes nice enamels as well.
