Well it struck again, I managed to forget to install the damn armor plate on the canopy.... I even went as far as set it next to the canopy as a bold reminder “Hey stupid, install this!” Yeah skipped that step a second time in a row, this time I cannot reference photo myself out of this one. That was the start, next is when I laid down the the RLM02 and Mr Surfacer when I noticed that even after multiple application of thin cement, I manage to still have the slightest gap between the canopy and fuselage :headbang: My hope that it is small enough to where no paint what so ever was able to pass it. I fear that there is a slight chance it might have but at this point the only thing I can do is carry on and hope for the best. Did I mention I hate PE! Most of the time I don’t but this time while installing the rudder cables I was inventing new words, but prevailed and moved on. Calling it a night. This build is a ball buster for sure, the little mistakes are striking over and over. Well this is how it is going to sit til Monday when the paint arrives. Few items left on the first build but waiting until I reach the point to use flat clear before I finish it up.

Well I guess I might crack open my third and final entry into this GB in a day or two.... When I stop inventing words. Until then a shot of the problem child:

Ah... Yes it happens to us all. I forgot to install the cockpit in a monogram Typhoon once. It wasn't until I closed the fuselage up and added the wings (and every had dried) that I noticed it sat there on the bench next to me... :headslap:

Yeah, what Herman said. Besides, with the canopy being the same color as the fuselage, you can’t see in to notice.

I gust forgot to add the gunsight on mins.
To make each build less crappy than the last one. Or, put another way, "Better than the last one, not as good as the next one!"..

Portman, the funny part is I had the damn thing next to the canopy, you would have thought I would of remembered to put it on!

Yes Handi, will carry on as per Herman’s instructions!

Lyle you always have a way to put a funny twist on things! Lol.

Monday we will see more progress, still need to install the PE on the trop intake, styrene rods on the lower wing radiators as struts, then spray down the colors. Before then I need to fill that very very small gap on the canopy ( a post it note paper won’t fit through it).

I'm a guy with a short attention span, so I know exactly what you're writing about. On most days it's hard for me to wrap my mind around a build again when I come home from work. I need some hours of peace to rest my mind before going back to the bench and that is more easily to achieve on holidays or weekends. Main reason why I'm a slow builder.
I think your canopygate will disappear from your annoyance-list as soon as color and weathering is on. The primer is made for showing all flaws in their whole glory. Just be careful when you're applying the panel line wash and miss that area by purpose. Should blend well in with the rest.
When the sun of culture hangs low even dwarfs throw shadows.

Hardly noticeable. Don't sweat it, 50 years from now nobody will be the wiser.

Not much going on in the Schmitt factory, supplies are still trickling in and we must make do with what we have! The third 109 is going to be started soon, I promise! The only new clew I can give is (first clew was that it is not an Emil) that it is related to one of the ones being built already!

Alright enough of me yammering on, you guys came here for the 109 porn so here it is:
