One of those 60’s Superfighters that were cancelled. It’s too bad because it was reputed to be one hell of a machine. It’s cancellation spelled the end of the Canadian aerospace defense industry.BlackSheep214 wrote:Saw this in one of my favorite eBay sellers. Not a Mirage but something different or similar...

Think the CF-105 was a much larger aircraft than the Mirage - a great looking beast though.

Yes it was. A large beast of an interceptor. Big engines, big radar, designed for the wide open skies of the Russian bomber approach routes over Canada. Not petite at all like the Mirage family of fighters.

Thanks John - I'm pretty pleased with it thus far.
Thought so - a really nice looking beastie actually!Stikpusher wrote:Yes it was. A large beast of an interceptor. Big engines, big radar, designed for the wide open skies of the Russian bomber approach routes over Canada. Not petite at all like the Mirage family of fighters.

Looking real good so far Stuart! Are Xtracolor paints still on the market in the UK? If they are, and you can get ahold of some, they make the proper camouflage colors for the Mirage 2000.

Thanks Carlos,
Yes they are still available but I'm not overly keen on them - certainly not the acrylics. The last time I used they they weren't great to work with. I've not used their enamels for a while however so I'll take a look into those.
I have the right Humbrol paints as per Heller's call outs (and they do look about right) but I'm not overly keen on painting with them because they're semi-glass paints - which I HATE painting with. It's a lot harder to hide the brush marks in gloss or semi. I'm much rather paint with a matt and then add the gloss coat later - this is why I like painting with Hataka these days as they're all matt and nice paints for brushwork.
Cheers!

I've not forgotten this (I'm enjoying it far too much), I actually spent some time working on it today. Canopy on, strakes on, refuelling probe on.

Cheers!

Re: Heller 1/48 Mirage 2000C
good looking build! Well done sir.
To make each build less crappy than the last one. Or, put another way, "Better than the last one, not as good as the next one!"..
