Steps 23 and 24, the nose gear....A lot of parts (6) to fit in the bay created in step 1. I carefully assembled, dry fitting to determine the attachment points, and still had stuff not appear to line up or fit...Most notably, part N158 to N157. You folks with the Revell Germany kit, I'd like to hear from you when you get to that point. I have asked Revell Germany for replacement parts, mostly to try again. It took me 3 days of trying to get this together and finally had to use CA to get it.

If you look closely at the top of the gear, you will see a little nub sticking out. that isn't supposed to be there, but I could not get it to go any other way.







Assuming I can get replacement parts from Revell GMBH, I would very much appreciate any suggestions on this.

As I managed to get some glue on a window, not a lot, but still....I thought I would try to buff it out with some 2500 grit and then some 4000 grit. I was able to get most of it, but not all. But, boy is it smooth! These guys at Revell are a hoot. There is a small porthole on the left side of the picture - cloudy at this point. There was no way I was going to try and get the part (right at 2mm?) in that spot with glue. So, I just used the Testors clear stuff. It is great for these small openings.

Wow, you're making me scared Lyle! Just looking through the parts in the box it sure looks like a lot of detail. I'm in the middle of a dragster, an f4j, and a hellcat. The C54 will be next.

Look at the instruction guide again. That nub is suppose to be in the notch of part #N157.





That nub is suppose to be there. You glued it on wrong...

I agree. However there was no other option given how the other parts went together. That is one reason I’ve sent a request to Revell GmbH.

Hmmm.... maybe part #N157 wasn’t suppose to be glued flat up against part #153. Is there a hole on the side of part # 153 for part #N157? The instruction guide does look misleading on the placement of where exactly the lower rod of part 157 is suppose to go on the main gear strut.

Looking at the guide and your actual assembly, I wonder if part #157 is suppose to be glued in an angle to the notch. Either that or part #157 is too short. Now you’ve got me wondering if the part is defective or not.

Now I’m stumped. I looked in scalemates and downloaded the instruction guide to see the next step to get an idea of what the nose gear assembly is suppose to look like. Judging from your assembly, it looked you did it right. I’m now convinced that part is too short and defective.

I wonder the Sam.e thing. The stub on 156 should attach to the the middle of the Y, 157. I’ll see what Revell GmbH has to sa then, I may try surgery.

Heard from a Revell GmbH...parts are on the way, free of charge. Hooray!
