No, it did not. Nor did it have a radar in the nose either. It was truly an X-Plane design. Aside from the aerodynamics, which were quite close to those of the F-22 in the final design iteration, it was not testing out all of the systems that make the F-35 so advanced. That is where the program hit slowdowns was integrating all the high tech elements. I suspect that the engineers were over optimistic in their assessment of how long it would take the concepts to become reliably functioning reality.

I thought so too Stuart. Yet the X-32 demonstrator did have weapons bays. Again, my guess would be that since Lockheed already had the experience there with the F-22, they could skip that part for the 35.

Yesterday’s progress... I puttied the weapons bay seams, let it dry a few hours then sanded one side...
I’ll work on the other side today

Those fills should disappear under a coat of paint! What kind of putty are you using there, Carlos?

John that’s what I’m hoping will happen. When I prime in the cockpit, I’ll shoot the rest there to check for anything that I missed. I used Tamiya Gray Putty here. It’s really good stuff. I like it better than Squadron Green or White Putty.
