The instructions didn't say anything about removing any backing paper. Also once they sperate into two pieces they become unworkable. There was a piece of tissue paper between the cardboard and the belts if that is what you are referring to.

All of the HGW belts that I've used had a backing. I used the edge of a sharp knife to split the belt from the backing at one end. After the backing was removed, I crumpled the belts per instructions. I imagine that the backing would probably come off during crumpling if I had not removed it earlier. I don't have any photos but I found a video clip that shows this. Go to 1:23 and you'll see what I'm talking about.

I’ve always been intimidated of trying AM belts. Now that I’ve seen the video, I’ve gained some confidence seeing how easy it is to thread the belt straps through the buckles while it’s still on the PE fret. I’m sold!

Great video John! I wish I would of seen it before. Adding the buckles before cutting them off is a great idea. But that still leaves my question. I see what you are talking about and are totally right. But why did the lower lap belts just break and fall apart when they was separated from the backing paper? I still had two lower lap belts on the card and tried to separate them with a new #11 blade and same thing they just broke a part. Imagine a old decal breaking a part when you put it in water or try to remove it from the backing.

That doesn't sound right... I'd contact HGW.

Kinda late in the game for me now, but now knowing how they are meant to act if I have problems with the others in the stash I will.

Been busy doing other things but do have some things to show.
First I got the fuselage together and have done some seam work. I used a black sharpie to check and so far so good. I do have a few pin holes to fill.
Second I got the wings assembled this morning.


I've also got me a resin LCD 3D printer with a resolution on prints of 2K. Here is a couple of things I have printed so far.
