That's what you get with a 1:1 3rd gear at 55mph. I thought the same exact thing till I dropped mine into 3rd (which is a 1:1 gear) at 55. There it was on my Auto Meter tach.....3000rpm.
The 4L60E overdrive gear ratio of .696 drops 'er down to 2000.

The suburban I factory ordered had the 4L80E trans and 4.11 gears - best tow vehicle I've ever owned. I currently have a YukonXL I picked up used and it has the same transmission but the 3.73 gears and it's good but not 4.11 good. The gear swap I did in my Charger was one of the funnest mods - went from 2.65 to 3.73... way more fun!
Oh yeah - model is coming along nicely

Thanks for the comments fellas!!!
John: I didn't think there'd be a real big difference between the 3.90's and 4.10's but the engine seems to make better use of those gears with the latest cam swap I did on it. A Suburban with 4.11's though....man that had to drink gas.....ALOT!!!
Alright folks. This aint a whole lot but this here is around 3 cumulative hours of work this week. One wall of the landing gear bay is finished. Now for the other wall.....
A BIG thanks to jkim for reference shots.

Excellent detail painting on that sidewall! Just curious... what paint are you using for the metal color?
