My Apologies Lyle, I thought I had replied to this. Nice perseverance on getting your P-51 done. I have always been a fan of yellow (and blue) nosed Mustangs. That kit can definitely be a challenge. It's actually one of my favorite monogram kits (but I am a bit nuts you know).

Yes I remember picking them up for $2.50 back in the day and the revell boxing for under $10 with the coupon @ Michaels as recently as three or four years ago. A nice thing about cheap kits is you really don’t have to worry about screwing them up…

exactly. I scrounged soda bottles at five cents each. If I got 20, I could go to the Wnn-Dxie, trade them in for a buck, walk next door to the drug store and get a kit for $0.98. The big time kits were something like a $1.49 or something. I think the Monogram phantom P-51 was a whopping $7.50 when released. Things have changed in our little hobby, huh?

Heh… I remember when car and aircraft model kits went for $5 at Kmart. Those were the glory days of my youth.
