Gooooood morning gentlemen! How are you? I hope you’re all doing very well 
The ebb and flow of my mojo has been slowly moving back to the flow stage, which I am very happy about, and I’m feeling like it’s time to complete my 1:72 and 1:32 A6M2’s project.
The work that I’d done up to this point, most especially on the 1:32, was pretty mammoth. I hadn’t realized initially how much energy it zapped out of me. Especially when it comes to the paint job, gee wiz. And I don’t necessarily like that- do a big push over the course of several weeks, get a lot done, and end up happy with the work but also feeling burnt out. That doesn’t really work for me. So I’m changing my approach.
And I’m thinking of completing the 1:72 Zero first.
...And in order to do that I have to finish building and detailing the engine, and paint it of course.
A while back we were all talking about wiring radial engines, and I recall saying that I “wouldn’t bother with wiring up a 1:72 radial engine.” Well, I think I may have changed my mind. I went through the trouble of wiring the cockpit, which was a lot of fun and I fee that extra effort does add something to this project, so shoot, why not wire-up the engine?
Thing is, that baby is small! Have a look:
See how tiny that crank case cover is? While I was able to successfully drill out the holes on the cylinder heads, drilling holes in the ignition ring seems like a no-go to me, because I don’t have drill bits that small and there isn’t enough material there to put fourteen holes in. Attaching the wires to the back of that piece is an option I’d considered, but that cover fits pretty snug and flush to the cylinder heads’ subassembly and that might mess the fit up. So I’m puzzling over that at the moment
. It’s not a big deal though. I’ll figure something out.
