She's looking mighty fine, Carlos!!

Mike, John, Tom, thank you! It’s not perfect, but I’m so jazzed with how it looks now. A learning experience to do the rigging in this manner.

John, yup, I’ll finish this up, and it will be time for the dawn patrol to look for them Fokkers.

Final bits of touch up and detail painting done, propellor added...



Flat coat is all that is left, and I’ll call this one done.

Superb work! Everything looks absolutely of a piece, nice harmonies between the textures, colors and in general the readiness of the aircraft.

The lower wings and their struts were giving me trouble, but I think I finally found the sweet spot between solid fit, accuracy and sanity.

Thank you so much for following along, Clint. I still have to work out the lower landing gear struts, too. Every part I test fit when the project was still mostly a stock kit build has been modified along the way, but I still have to go back and forth to make sure the pieces still fit. I am not happy with some of the textures on the fuselage; the white banded sections look rough and pebbly to me. I am going to see if I can reduce this somewhat.

Thank you so much for your encouragement throughout this project, Carlos. I am happy to have two of the three wings glued to the fuselage. This was such a relief for me. I was really building this up in my head to be a problem when it was very simple. I also have time to address adding the bonded leather trim around the cockpit opening, as well as the holsters for the flare cartridges which were mounted outside the cockpit yet within reach of the pilot. There is a single step to be added, and a pair of handles toward the rear which I assume were used to manually lift and position the tail. Now that I have some white paint added to the top wing, I will prepare to paint the camouflage on either side in a few days—after the paint cures.

Bruce, one of the handiest anecdotes that has helped me is the story of a man on his deathbed, saying "I've had a lot of trouble in my life but most of it never happened".

I've still done the same as you, worrying about some step I haven't gotten to yet that turns out to be not that bad. Balanced by a few kits that persistently proved to be worse than I imagined.

Bruce, magnificent work! I am also thrilled to see this moving forward. I think a light sanding with a fine sanding stick or pad will help smooth out that white on the fuselage. You got this man!

I love watching you build model Bruce! I'm sure it's an even bigger experience seeing it in person.

I airbrushed on the topcoat a little while ago, and I’m calling this one done. It’s not perfect, it’s not contest material, but it is finally finished.
