I almost went to eBay seller RebelAlpha for 1/32 Airscale photo etch so I could superdetail the surrounds of each main instrument panel dial. The Eduard etch is flat and needs jiggery pokery and jumping through hoops to get it to pick up a more natural thickness. At least, that is what happened with the placards and lap belts so far.



I am not frustrated with the Eduard PE. I am almost at my limit with what I can do so I am going ahead with it slowly hoping an improvement will present itself.

I've never been a fan of Eduard replacing raised detail with flat PE and find myself looking at resin more and more, those PE bezels will look really good on top of the flat Eduard piece. So any more news on the lower wing fit?

Thanks, Clint. I agree the Airscale PE would help a lot. I was not sure if I was gonna invest in that yet despite the fact that there are different countries being represented on the sheet. Also what is holding me back is not knowing where my RP Tool Die Punch set is. I am also missing a Gentle Giant maquette of Princess Leia from the original original Clone Wars animated series—ya know the one where she is a snow bunny? As a corollary to this I can’t believe I used to date a young woman who cosplays as a Slave Leia.... wait are we building airplanes? Yes. We most certainly are. For now I am rolling with confidence in the kit design until I can no longer maintain that fiction, lol. The wing roots on top are annoying since they fit top and bottom then gap the interior—and the bottom is a tight fit. Everything is under tension. I am just gonna detail the cockpit and paint the engine and then we will see.

I had 10 mins at lunch to get a practice sketch done.

Medic—Thanks so much for your comments! I am a freelancer in film/tv/gaming industries. I used to simply say, “A photographer,” but that is not really right—although my first real jobs were in advertising and photography was a big component of that. I basically bounce around a bit! The drawing helps me focus. Also I had shoulder surgery in 2014 and I feel I need to keep limber and drawing helps me do that. One thing I must add to you specifically is how much I enjoyed following your Warthog project—I have spent a lot of time studying the way you primer and paint.

Ahh ok. Very cool. I can relate with the shoulder. Although I haven't had surgery (which I'm afraid will happen), all the years I've spent in EMS do nasty things to your joints and back.

I don't think I'm the one to study when it comes to painting. I'm not 100% happy with the paint job on the A-10. I'm still a long way from being as good as people like Jkim. But thank you for you confidence in my work!

It feels a little chunky to me, in the shape, but I needed the plastic I carved for the base to be a little huskier to keep it locked in the slot.
