I think it looks great Lyle! I went through this whole thread to see all you did on this. Well done; I commend you on your persistence and determination. Your efforts paid off well.
I have used the liquid decal film on many decals and always found it to work very well for me. The only time it didn't work for me was on ancient Aurora decals that were already as thick as vacuformed anyway. If you are still looking for a home for this stuff, send it on.

I am wondering if I grabbed the ink jet paper rather than the laser paper. who knows? I should probably seal them with some sort of spray, too. Anyway, it does look like a Mustang.

I like it Lyle!
I have not really been a *huge* fan of P-51:s for reason unknown, but no seeing Owl building one and then your big build... makes me think...
Doesn't Airfix have a pretty new P-51 kit available, perhaps I should...

Yes Kari, Airfix does have a nice new one out. I started it some time ago after winning it in the raffle at Columbus, but can't finish mine because the decals and instruction sheet is missing; probably still back in Columbus. I highly recommend it.
Once again, brilliant job Lyle, that is a model to be proud of.
