Started out with one scheme but the decals cracked and fell apart... so going with this one. About 1/2 way through the declas. Liking the look

WOW!!! Love it - what a great choice of scheme! The decals look like they're going down well!

I've done all I can - waiting on replacement speed brakes. Interesting sitting next to the F-86F - same techniques, same products - different finish which makes me wonder does the plastic come in to play. So I used my new Krome double action airbrush for the Tamiya smoke post shading. Love the control, disappointed with the ability to spray a super fine line - maybe need a different needle/tip? New to double action action. Also I got a lot of spatter (kinda ruined the finish but oh well - we need to experiment). But when I disconnected the airbrush from the CO2 the fitting was frozen so it was leaking at the quick disconnect. I'm guessing this introduced moisture so I'm not blaming the airbrush.
It's a nice kit but I would go for aftermarket decals for sure. Had a few issues there.

A SAC F-84F. That looks most colorful in those markings! :shoutout:

Congratulations! I would love to see all the angles when you are done, but for now that is a real beautiful sight to see. I am not sure if everyone does this with an air brush, but I always run thinner through first. Since we are both in California and it is dry as a bone here, I think it helps to wet the internals first... oh yes, I had to look up SAC by stumbling around online but the profile is gorgeous.

A superb (almost) finished - that looks fantastic in that scheme.

These airbrushes are always a learning curve aren't they?

That's lookin swell John. As far as soot goes, airbrushing is a good method but I've found a good niche in using ground up pastel colors and dry brushing them onto the finished aircraft works pretty good for me.

I used this trick on my Corsair build a few years back:

Looks good to me. The schemes from that era were something to behold!
