Man I love that image! They got the gull wing right with that kit!

Kari that cockpit is looking fantastic! It maybe a difficult build but you're going great guns!

Thank you, Stuart! And Kari, please keep going! Please! The design is there, and looks so good, so correct, even to use the overused term, it is “sexy,” and elegant in a way that makes even the beloved Mustang seem a little “clunky,” or as my old boss said, “That design looks horsey to me.”

Thankfully I had a bit of time last night and another lunch time session today - so I've made a bit more progress.

The cockpit's painted up - not my best work but as I've said before - nothing will be seen through the canopy!

I had a bit of issues getting the seat to fit which reminded me why I dislike these Airfix Spitfire cockpit. In the end I cut all the mounting pins off and used a bit of sprue as a support - this is easy to do, because nothing will be seen through the canopy.. Have I said that before?

After sorting that I glued the main parts of the model together. I'll revisit the top of the seat before the clear goes on, touch up the paint and add a tape belt.

But we has a Spitfire!!!!

One interesting tip I stumbled across when taking the photos. When you take the picture hold the tissue paper from the decals over the flash, it makes a great diffuser.

Looks great, Stuart. Nice progress on the cockpit. I was debating how to paint what I have in my kit which is basically the floor and seat, so I am grateful to see how you handled those details. I also think it’s one of the wonderful traits of this forum that we have an unofficial group build going here.

Thanks Bruce! And I agree, it's great how this has sprung up.

To be honest I wouldn't spend that much time over it, especially if you're adding a pilot.

Blast from past...

Before my oldest, original kits, that had been saved in boxes at my parents place, were "archived" for the last time (this was in 2013 ), I took a picture of every kit..

And I had also a Spitfire.. probably my only Spit so far..
And it was a Matchbox kit, green pilot... :-D
Unsure when it was built..
