That's going to depend on which medium you use, oils or acrylics. I can give you pointers on oils, but I don't use acrylics other than as a base tone. Remember to have a can of "Oven Cleaner" handy for reworks. I do it myself all the time

Me too, John. There's been quite a few things out of my norm on this set, socks and kilts being the main. But that flag, at first glance it was daunting.

Ok... why not acrylics? Better question, oils. I’m assuming you’re not talking about enamels. I know you don’t use acrylics but what about Vallejo acrylics for figure painting? Vallejo has a wide variety of colors.

Good question. Vallejo, like others now, has a great range of tones, so if acrylics are your choice, you're good. I used to use enamels way back when until I was introduced to oils. Enamels and acrylics are the same to me, too much work, IMHO, which is why I enjoy using oils. You will never get acrylics to blend like oils. They have their place, but I rarely use them for other than a base tone.

If you go with acrylics there's a boat load of vids on YT to get you started. It's really just a matter of diving in, Bro, go for it!
