Thanks! And yes, brown primer does make for nice shadows under sand colored paint schemes. I did just that with my ISF M51 Sherman…

I do find your build process fascinating, how you pretty much assemble everything before paint. I take it you leave a lot of dark primer up under the hull etc. for contrast/shawdows?

Thanks Stuart! Yes, I’ve found that by using dissimilar layers of paints, painting in the final stages works great. Let’s say acrylics for base color, then enamels for stowage, it’s easy to clean up mess ups with some enamel paint thinner. The dark brown primer is a natural for contrast/shadows on tan/sand base colors, and reduces the areas needing washes. Top it off with some selective dry brushing and details really pop.

Stuart, the method works fairly well... depending upon your paint and airbrush skills...

Today I was able to airbrush on a coat of Polly Scale Desert Storm Sand, plus some Tamiya CARC/NATO Green in selected areas. It came out ok, but not quite as good as intended, since the polly Scale paint was not performing optimally, alternating between tip dry and splatter...





we shall see how much free time that I get in the coming week to hopefully get this thing wrapped up soon...

what do you use for antenna?

What are you thinning Pollyscale with Carlos? I've been using water to thin since I ran out of Testors acrylics thinner in green label.

I think I tried it with Windex at one time but can't remember whether it gave me problems or not.
