I had some extra time to sit at my bench and decided to continue with the Dauntless

Finalized the cockpit and attached the wings. I told some time ago, that I was happy with the fit.. well... that was then, now is now.. :headbang:
Had to struggle rather much with the following result; some horrible gaps that needs filling.

@Gary, studying much more carefully your "Russian Fighter" project now!

Did some scratchbuilding as well, two replace the gun barrels with Albion Alloys micro brass tubes.Especially as you only see the barrels, nothing else.

First some careful measurements:

Then pick the right size:

Preparations, cutting the brass tubes:

Added some very rough "touchpoints" to align the barrels correctly:

To make the barrel to look more realistic, instead of a rather big bore/caliber, I put inside a smaller tube, making it look more realistic. Unfortunately I don't currently have a better macro, than what my iPhone 13 results, might be difficult to see. But I am rather happy of the result:

I think rather good!

I'm satisfied.

And this is the current status of the Dauntless

Let's see what next!

Good luck, Kari! Those are some big gaps, but in the hands of a skilled modeler like yourself, they'll soon be gone. No big step for a stepper, right?

I believe that I've got the gaps on those Russian fighters about closed now. I'm waiting for some Mr. Surfacer 500 to arrive to use in a few places. And, I'm about to start tidying up my work area; it's become so cluttered and disorganized that it makes the fun into work, and we don't want that! Man, I wish I had one of those cool, organized benches, with lots of room for multiple projects! Someday...

A great idea for gun barrels. Will have to do that for the Dauntless in my stash.

Thanks Tom,

It certainly improves the gun barrels.

Found my old digi camera with decent macro, got a better picture and realize need to sand the slightly
