oh those look very nice, Kari, bravo, my friend, bravo. That was a very elegant solution as well as improvement in one area of plastic kits that never quite comes off as very realistic. I always like to paint guns in the ultra glossy black from Gundam, then follow up with brushed on graphite to create gunmetal. Looking forward to your next post!

I use a similar method Bruce. But I use flat back as my base. Flat paints tend to be a better base for dry brushing in my experience. Is there any particular reason that you use a gloss black base?

Something my Dad taught me: Gloss is smoother and more durable than flat paint and holds up better throughout the process overall. The initial color coat should have as little “tooth” as possible. Flat primer is used to check surface for imperfections or work for alignment.

What is best in life? Flat? Gloss? Tamiya? Gunze? Ammo? Humbrol? What is best is to hear the hiss of your airbrush at low pressure with enough thinner to make each pass go smoothly. That is the correct answer!
