I love the egg planes. I just found them. They all look fantastic. I still can't get over how sharp and clean your panel lines are. I cannot for the life of me replicate that so clean and so sharp. Then again, I build only in 1/72 scale so maybe hat is a factor.

Those are pretty cool actually especially the weathering involved. I've seen some others out there in online stores of Egg plane bombers kits too. Now if they only can come out with a B-52 Egg plane.

I don't think I do anything remarkably special with the panel lines. On some occasions, I will re-scribe the entire model if I feel that the kit requires it. I mix my own washes for the panel lines. I simply use a knife edge to scrape powder from a piece of pastel chalk. Put that into a dab of water. Add a drop of dishwash soap to relax the surface tension of the water and facilitate easier mixing and presto... my own panel line wash!

Yes, Meng has a line of multi-engine egg planes. I have the B-17 kit but have not built it yet.

John, you are a very welcome addition to the site here. You like to share your work, you show your own particular methods for doing things, and you actively participate in many threads. Not to mention your top notch builds. I'm really glad that you found this place.

The next model that I wanted to share is my latest. It is the 1/48 scale Hasegawa Bf109K-4 painted as Blue 16 of 12./JG 27 and I completed a few months ago. The only aftermarket items used on this build were the photoetched belts, decals by EagleCal and the resin gunsight by Quickboost. I'm not sure why but this one makes me happy. I've always liked the interesting nuances of late war Luftwaffe camo and markings. I like the introduction of new colors, the patchwork look of subassemblies being painted at different factories, hard-edged spots versus softly sprayed camo demarcations on the same aircraft... it is all so interesting to me. So I wanted to recreate those aspects on this build and this took me on a painting route that was a little more complicated than the bottom color/top color 1/top color 2 schemes that I commonly work on.

I tried to base my painting choices on the single known photograph of Blue 16. Since this aircraft is missing its wings and tail unit, some assumptions were made but even those were based on factual conjecture and not just modeling whimsy. It was a very fun exercise and I like how she turned out.

I like the separately painted sub assembly concept. You pulled it off properly with this one. Good stuff you keep sharing here!
