Tamiya 1/48 Fi156C Storch
Re: Tamiya 1/48 Fi156C Storch
Wow thanks Bruce I'll try that setup when I get home in the morning. Also I'm not hiding this engine under the panels, I wouldn't put so much work into something that wouldn't be seen, I'm thinking of a maintaining diorama for the completed build. Thanks again for taking the time and showing me something new.

Unleash hell! Do not repent! Warfare grants us no lament
Let your weapons slash and tear This is no place for fear
Hold the lines! Move as one! In unity our victory's won
Our shields will form a mighty wall
United we shall never fall
Odin's sons... Attack!
Unleash hell! Do not repent! Warfare grants us no lament

Thanks Bruce, I would like to recreate the photo you posted back on page three of the guys sitting under the wing and the canteen hanging from the flap counter balance that's going to be my goal.

Yup, a nice simple setup like that... a plain background of a curved sheet of paper/poster board.
As far as enter stage left/enter stage right... look at this clip from Battle of Britain.
Although the film makes no real good guys/bad guys overt statements, and presents both sides fairly even handedly, it is English made...
From my viewpoint it is a wonderful blending of real aircraft and miniatures from a film age long before CGI.

You’re welcome. Another film where the aerial cinematography gives you that “you are there!” view so vividly. Supposedly George Lucas took some inspiration from this film for the Death Star dogfights.speedgraflex wrote:What a sequence! Beautiful photography! Thanks for posting, Carlos!!
That’s a great photo that you found of the guys under the Storch wing. They have to typical desert war appearance of both armies where you can’t really tell which side they are on. Without them wearing their headgear it is impossible to tell. Both used such similar uniforms and kit. But the canteen hanging from the wing is British, not German.

Thanks for posting that clip, now I want to find the entire movie for the time it was made it looks like it had some good special effects. I knew the canteen wasn't German I thought may Italian. Either way the Germans (and the Brits) used everything they captured in North Afrika including British uniforms.

Clint, in 1969, the effects were top notch. And most of them have held up well, just like Tora! Tora! Tora!. There is a recent Czech film, “Dark Blue World” or “Deep Blue World”, about Czech pilots in the RAF and their post war experience under the communist government. That film uses aerial footage from Battle of Britain with a little CGI upgrade and it looks sweet!
