So work has been progressing at a reasonable pace over the last few weeks. I've got the replacement canopy on, the engine pods are assembled and fitted and I've fully painted up the landing gear. I'm really happy with the latter - normally I leave the gear until after I've painted and decalled the fuselage, which I hate doing, because once the decals are on I feel like the build's finished, so then having to go back and starting faffing about with the gear is a real mojo killer.
So here's were are - The bottom surfaces have had a couple of coats of RLM76 and I've just filled in some of the gaps around the canopy with PPP. It's pretty much ready for some more paint now.
So far I REALLY like this kit - it's been a really fun build. It's NOT a shake and bake though (I don't think any kit actually is tbh), I've had to do a lot of filling and re-scribing on this one.
I'm also really enjoying the new bench set I have, which is a lot more tidy and only allows me to have one kit on the go at once - a much better idea and I'm working a lot better like that.
Great fun though - thanks for looking in.
Cheers!

Hey buddy!
That RLM76 is looking mighty fine and lovely on there, and it’s a pleasure to see that. It’s one of my favorite colors to paint and I enjoy it when the bottom of the aircraft gets a nice finish in that color. For me, painting the underside (especially first), it’s like a mile-marker or a high-water mark that says the subject is coming to life. And what a nice color to have for that.
As to landing gear- bro, I am with you 100% on that. On my Zeke I did the legs long before I started painting the aircraft. And I did that intentionally. One reason was, I was going on vacation and didn’t want to rush that paint job. Another reason was, as you said, when I leave them until the end, it can be a huge mojo killer. And I always rushed those legs to get the project to the finish line. I don’t want to do that anymore. So like you, I’m building and painting gear way earlier in the process.
Anyway, good show on this sweet baby so far. She’s looking fantastic!!
