That was the plan if I decide to take that route.

Yeah, the instructions could've highlighted that cut a little more! But I agree with the rest... I think cutting the part in half and gluing it onto the tail will work out just fine. Maybe even better than cutting the hole out... less filling probably.

Yeah, I'm still deciding the best course of action on this one. I've been working on the Mirage F1 C in the meantime.

Good idea. Think it thru. At a random moment, the course you want to follow will pop into your head.

After a few days of deciding how to approach this dilemma, I finally made my decision on how to proceed with the tail fin. I chose to cut out the hole that I overlooked to cut before buttoning up the fuselage.
First, under bright LED lighting, I used tape as a guide around the fin hole where it revealed under a bright LED lighting. I taped the bottom, then top and sides. Next I carefully drilled several holes in a straight line. Next I carefully cut across with a #11 blade. Sanding I used a 320 grit strip of Testors sandpaper; top and bottom. Then I used 3 different files until I was satisfied the fin will fit through the hole. Last, I used liquid glue to hold it in place. All is left is a little Perfect Putty to fill in the very minimal gaps around the fin.
I pretty happy with the results. I'm actually surprised at myself I can do this little surgery.
