Thank you, Ken—

I am plugging away on Herr Zündmagnet, though—gotta work through the pain, but I am seeing the doctor Friday!

I added a temporary finish of graphite just to see if things were working. Now I’m gonna wash that off and prep for silver. Methinks Mr Magneto was not painted.

I’m glad you’re going to see the doctor. This is good. And I’m also enjoying your commitment to this project. Leaving no details un-examined. I like it. I’m trying to do the same thing.

Really like that extra detail Bruce, to bad most of it is going to be covered up by the fan.

True! It’s good experience though! I hope something may be seen in the end, but I am not counting on it. That’s for sure!

That’s what I’ve been puzzling over. I think I could’ve done better with my Zero engine. “But it’ll be under the cowling. The front part that you’ll see looks great, so why worry?”

That’s the thing, even if it isn’t visible I know it’s still there. And sometimes I can totally get past it and other times I can’t. Plus there’s the “it’s good experience” factor. That always rates high in my book. So yeah, I’m kind of coming around to the “Make it as detailed as you want even if nobody else will see it. You’ll know it’s there and if that makes you happy, go for it” philosophy.

Very nice work on the magneto. As Bruce pointed out, this will probably stick out far enough to be noticed behind the cooling fans. Always a balance between working on unseen details and moving the build forward. As it applies to these hidden details, I usually do the extra work on things I LIKE working on and skip the stuff that I consider tedious.

John—Truth. I agree completely. There is also a minor threat when any detailing causes a loss of overall vision. I keep this image on my phone if not in my head—

Everything is there in the moment the image was taken—and to get the broad stokes of a first impression is as important to me as every detail.

Man, I’m glad to know I’m not the only one who keeps photos on their phone for the sake of staying focused and inspiration!
