Started with decal work on the Avenger build.
The kit decals are not really the best of the best, unfortunately. First they had to soak really long time in the water and when finally coming off the carrier paper, it felt like they did not stick on the model.
Used Tamiyas Mark Fit decal setting, but struggled to get the decal to ”stay still”.
Let’s see after an hour or two, how the first decals have settled

Argh, luckily the kit had two identical sets of decals, but this will be a long and tedious decaling process..
Will stop for now and continue tomorrow, the Decal Gods are not on good mood today

Ugh…..I feel your pain.

I’ve had decals tear on me as well. I always made sure I replenish with hot water and let it soak a bit longer than usual - especially with large stubborn decals like roundels / stars and bars / numbers and letters, etc…
I’d love to create my own mask for painting such things but I don’t own a Cricut machine. Even making my own canopy masks would be a money saver.

Oh no! Well, that’s certainly bad news followed by a bit of good in that you have a spare set. Looks like the tip of the star is connected to the top of the bar. Even if the decals were at their freshest, that’s a small point of contact. I can’t really tell but I think the clear film extends over the entire sheet of decals, too. I was thinking you could split these stars and bars into three pieces and start with each star, then add each bar, but that would make your job harder. I’ve seen similar problems when watching 1/32 build videos of WNW kits. A larger decal tends to bend and twist towards its edges, and fellas building on the videos tend to reach for the edges with cotton buds which leads to diagonal tears. Hopefully the next insignia won’t be as problematic! All the best!

A really nice looking build Kari
Decal issues can be a real pain to deal with, I hope these don't give you any more issues.

Man that sucks. Decals can be the worst part of the build.
