I agree with you concerning every point you made. Weathering techniques are as personal for modelers as paint choices; weathering and paint overlap. I personally like fast drying washes, simple and safe products, and that is exactly what True Earth offers. However, I respect your perspective completely as it aligns closely to mine. I do not want to spend gobs n gobs on paint and weathering washes. I truly like using watercolors, engine oil, grease, old spray cans (oh boy I love splatter from an old spray can!!!) and keeping my options fairly contained.
The only news on this project concerns the base—I have not figured out the height! In fact, I plan to buy a base from a 1/32 Tamiya kit (several are currently available on eBay at the moment) and set up the aircraft using this base as a guide.
