Exactly... some people have a knack for naturally taking good photos. John, that appears to be the case with you.

The repairs to Black 1 have been finished. The aerial was fabricated using the Uschi thread (standard) that Bruce was kind enough to give me a supply of. The canopy has been secured in the closed position this time around.

Now I'll have to prepare her for shipment back across the Atlantic.

What an absolutely beautiful recreation of reality, John. I would imagine the pilot Dortenmann would be as I am at this moment slightly stunned. Small improvements create an impact. The sensation of my first impression is that you have created an historical document. Those repairs have disappeared as seamless, letting a few new details emerge, or if these details were always present, they emerge from the fully formed model as though they are.

A quick question... what are the red vertical posts on the upper surfaces of the wings? Are these to aid targeting during a dive? I see them here on the Smithsonian version as well!

Dude that is one helluva build right there John. I just can't get over the paint work and weathering that you put into this bad boy. Taking notes.......

Thanks, Brother Mustang Joe... and a quickie search reveals these manual flaps and gear indicators basically are flight controls on many WWII fighters, including the Anton. Apparently there was a real need to verify with a manual system even though the plane had an electrical indicator inside the cockpit.

Yes... landing gear indicators they are. Fashioned out of strips of brass sheeting. The Eagle Editions cockpit set had a pair of landing gear indicators included but I thought they were a bit over-scale so I fashioned my own.

That aircraft is something else, man. You did a truly fantastic job!

Thank you Kenny! It took me long enough to complete, that's for sure. I'm happy the repairs have restored Black 1 to her previous, worn but unbroken state.
