Research has started... and the first question...
Instructions tell the color of the 88 is matt-white ..

Some few reference pictures, although from a Tiger tank, but I guess it's same for the Jagdpanther shows more creamish white ? No ?

I answer myself with a question...
Is this perhaps the same color "Elfeinbein", as in Carlos 222 ?

Correct, Elfenbein. That was the standard color for closed top German AFV interiors in WWII. Not everybody used white in there. And from what I have been able to find out, there are more colors in there as well. Certain other colors were used on various components: primer red on floorboards, a green on certain drive train machineries, etc. It not at all monotone.

I think every off-white will do the job. Maybe a tiny drop of ochre or sand to your white and here ya go.
And feel free to go over board with the wash for the interior parts. When all you can do is take a glimpse through an open hatch they can't be accentuated too much.

Great looking 88 Kari - Yes you should paint it.

All very true. And don’t forget at least the bare steel of the breech block. That Tiger 88 is a perfect example- sub components in green and gray, seat is leather covered, bare steel areas of the gun breech... and a working gun will get beat up in the shell ejection area.

Ok, I shot first a layer of white primer (Ammo Migs One shot) and then, following Torbens instructions white with a drop of sand color..

And it looks pretty ok I must say!



And yes, this hatch will be such that can be opened and closed...


To "save" on step, the white-sand mixture is as a matter of fact gloss painted, meaning oilwash etc should work pretty nicely. However, still a little bit sticky (painted with Gunzes acrylics) so I will let it cure until tomorrow.

Will brush the steel color, as too complicated to start masking..

I wish I would have built the gun a little bit more carefully, some annoying gaps and "this and that" pretty visible... But then again, the hatch is not either the biggest in the world, meaning some of those faults will not be visible...
