After a frustrating week of being poleaxed in terms of what the Hell I want to donwith this thing, my mojo for the project has returned.

I was looking at references for cockpit sidewall details and I got lost in the rabbit hole. I also experimented with various glues and whatnot, trying to re-create buttons and so forth to recreate those details, and quickly succumbed to frustration. There are a lot of small details I’d like to scratchbuild. But so far, I haven’t been able to build anything I’m happy with :-(

I am happy with the new paint job I put on these parts though. And the chipping. So little of this cockpit will be visible inside that tiny aperatute but at least these details will busy it up a bit!

You’re off to a great start on the head office there!

Thank you for the encouragement! And true to form, the more I think about how I want to do this, the more fond of the airplane I become.

Rabbit hole adventures are pretty great, though—because once you popped outta that hole you cranked out this. It was not time wasted. Also my experience is to use those aftermarket etch kits... I just bought one in 1/72 for a cockpit project which is kind of batshit crazy but the yield is gonna be impressive—and the rabbit hole has to be equally deep because the size is daunting. Enough about my stuff—that seat and flooring both look fantastic.

Thank you, Bruce!

It would be really cool if there was more PE available for this kit, but I’m not going to bemoan it. Just those parts there look nice with a little bit of paint on them. And considering how small this ‘pit actually is after all is said and done -seriously, my 1/32 Zeke’s cockpit could swallow two of these easy, it makes sense that some details would be incorrect or left off.

After many experiments, I nearly pulled the trigger on an Aires resin set. Nearly. I can’t affor it at the moment. And I think if I paint this cockpit nicely and crisply, accentuate what details I can, and of course- install the kickass resin P&W engine, there’ll be enough wow factor for this one. I’m not ready to jam a resin cockpit into a model yet

There is something to be said for just building the shit out of what the kit presents you, as you are already doing. Go for it. Just... build... it. Eduard pretty much knows what is what, and adding the engine is going to be the focus.
