Wish I could of taken more and better photos of the process but I didn't want to touch my camera to much with wet hands. Also didn't have a way to video the process no tripod maybe next time I can show it better but I'll be more than happy to answer any questions.

You should post it as a video showing us how it's done.

I will next time I do this or I might just take a old kit and white wash it to show you guys, I just need to find a way to hold my phone or camera while I do it.

Started weathering with a overall filter of Mig grey followed by a dot filter using Model Master Dark Tan

That was then followed by a pin wash in the panel lines and bolts with Mig Dark Wash

Very cool and interesting method.

Thank you Mike, It takes some time but I think the results are fairly good.

After unmasking the interior I was happy to see that everything was just as I had left it.


So a few days ago when I had the airbrush out I also painted the tracks, antenna, exhaust and MG34s a coat of Alclad II Gunmetal.
Starting with the exhaust I applied a coat of Vallejo Environment Rust Texture fairly thick, then cleaned the brush and stippled it removing the rust in patches.


Next is the antennas I mixed up a rubber color using 3 drops Vallejo German grey, 2 drops Vallejo Black and 1 drop German Field Grey for a bit of a green hue.


After that was the MG34s, I couldn't find my graphite powder so instead I gave them a dry brushing of Tamiya X-11 Chrome Silver. The pistol grip was painted with Vallejo German camo brown. The butt stock was painted Vallejo German camo pale brown, some wood grain effect was painted with dark brown then a wash of Vallejo Orange Brown to tie it all together. The butt plate was painted with the rubber mix.


Finally the tracks. First they was giving a dry brushing of Tamiya X-11 Chrome Silver. Then using the Vallejo Rust Texture by using what was just in the cap then giving a few swipes on a paper towel to take most of the texture off I gave them a wash over the Chrome Silver leaving the guide horns alone. Finally using the rubber mix I painted all the rubber pads.

Everything is coming along great! Were the whip antenna rods insulated with a coating?

Looking pretty good! Saw this in scalehobbyist and added it to my watch list.

You know I'm not sure, I've always painted them this way alcald gunmetal and this rubber mix for the bottom boot part.

That's really cool, to bad it's 1/72 or I would probably order it too

I really like all that dot filter and pin wash methods. Really brings out a weathered touch to the whole body. Guns look the part as well. I've gotten to where I'll use a silver lead pencil to bring out some of the worn highlights of guns and cannons. In any case this beauty is coming along very nicely Clint.
