Nice, Carlos. Neat details that you have aged.

I did the detail painting the engine exterior. Now it’s ready for installation.

Nice work on the exterior of the engine. I dig it! And here’s to a nice, smooth installation with no surprises!

Thanks Kenny. Although, with more planning and pre fitting, and less winging it on the go, it probably would look a little better. But it’s acceptable for my goal here.

I forgot to upload these to Postimage yesterday so I could update this last nite. Ah well, now it’s done....

Vertical and horizontal stabilizers built... actually several days ago...

and the lower swivel engine doors installed after the saw tooth trailing adages were straightened...

The X-35A was built with the swiveling nozzle engine for the X-35B installed, as well as all the associated doors for the lift fan, but no lift fan. Once the flight test program for the A was completed, it was taken back to the Skunk Works in Palmdale, the lift fan was installed, along with associated controls, and then it was redesignated as the X-35B, and went back out for flight test of the B program. No X-35A exists today, only the B and C remain.

And then, just like that, this afternoon it started to take final shape!

Next up, sanding...

I just can’t warm up to this one. Stik, you are doing a great job.

Who in their right mind would think this could do cground support as well as the A-10? I shake my head in amazement.

I hear ya Lyle. And thank you. Replacement for the F-16, check. Replacement for the AV-B, huge improvement. Replace the legacy Hornets, sure, why not? Do CAS like an A-10? I don’t think so. But three out of four is not bad.
