Did you prime the yellow areas on the leading edge of the wing with a white colour? Looks nice and bright!

I wonder you are able to do some modelling before going to work? Man, that would not let me any sleep at all when doing so...

BSY, I wish that I had room for the new Airfix 1/24 kits. Every photo that I see of that kit is fabulous! All I can say is wow! At best if I must have a big Tiffy I will have to get an old Revell 32nd scale one.

Thomas, there was no primer coat of base coat applied in this case. And I was very pleasantly surprised at how well this time it turned out. That's the good thing about Humbrol paints, great pigments and coverage. although it was done in several light coatings and took awhile to fully dry and cure.
As far as modeling before work, I work an evening shift, 1400 to 2400. I wake up in the morning, take care of personal needs, exercise, clean up, eat, then usually have an hour or so that I can get in at the bench before I go to work. After work is too late... LOL!

Well, my progress was delayed a couple of days due to Super Bowl and helping out a friend with a home project. But now I am back on track and nearing the finish line... First I added a coat of Flat Black to the canopy area to give that color to the inner canopy frame. Then I later airbrushed on MM Ocean Grey for that portion of the upper camo scheme





and with the prop test fitted



then after letting that dry overnight, today I added the Dark Green for the upper surface camo, again using MM enamels. You may notice the area of the fuselage Sky ID band that was overpainted. I used Humbrol Ocean Grey and Dark Green for that area. The Humbrol Dark Green was pretty close to the MM version of the color (aside from being Satin instead of Flat), but the Humbrol Ocean Grey is noticeably different.

now it's really looking pretty mean! I gotta also say that I really like using the double action airbrush for the camo, I was able to get a nice tight demarcation line... very sweet!

Double action is where it's at baby!!!
Looks like it's "old hat" to ya.

Pretty impressive for a "just started using it " sort of guy.

Lol i hope you'll get the room to put the 1/24 typhoon but I'm referred to the 1/72 version

Well done on the camo but I'm not convinced about the monogram tyffi shapes , seems that not capture real one

Fermis, Double Action is indeed where it's at... it truly is a wow factor I had not even contemplated...

Lyle, it was not a huge leap of learning skill, but it is a big step in capability I think. I can say this, when this free, knock off airbrush gives up the ghost one day, I'm heading to Hobby Lobby with my 40% off phone app coupon for a Paasche DA type. That's for dang sure!

BSY, I really can't say one way or another, yet, about capturing the true lines of the Tiffy. But I have definite faith in Monogram having done this one right. I am glad that you like my paint work though. As far as Airfix Tiffy's and 1/72 goes, I'll leave that to masters of Braille Scale like yourself and Mark/Duke. For aircraft, I'll stick to my preferred quarter scale with the occasional 32nd scale build thrown in...

Minor progress today.. first up I took off most of the masking.

as you can see, the left wing leading edge ID got dinged and needed some touch up

chin scoop.. I tried silly putty for masking this are for the fist time. it works real good for complex shapes and compound curves, but I had just a tad bit of bleed there as you can see



and the upper/lower fuselage hard edge demarcation



later I went and touched up the wing leading edge and did the propellor tips at the same time





then I airbrushed the main gear struts and wheel hubs with Testors square bottle Aluminum





and again using Testors square bottle paints, Steel and Dark Brown this time, I mixed up a custom shade for the exhaust stacks



and finally an overall shot of how she looks now...
