Sigh... The wrong bucket will stay where it sits... It was too difficult (and not really worth it eventually) to remove the seatbelt without breaking too much things around it...
So now I have a little bit unique setup with two different types of buckets...
Annoys a little bit, but I am putting this episode in the "learning by clumsy mistakes" category ....

BUT, the good news is.. the last textile belt/harness went actually pretty well together.
I am almost starting to like those textile belts.... :-)

Nevertheless, this means also that I can finally close up or attach the cockpit in the fuselage and can continue the build, f-i-n-a-l-l-y !

Thank you for the comment about the Me 262 cockpit. The tub has not been painted. Only the seat and the instrument panel have been completed. That build is on hold while I prepare for a two-week trip coming up. I shot my seat with a gloss coat and applied a dark wash to the belts. They are weathered now but a little too heavy as the wash stained the belt material.

I used CA glue... So they were/are stucked like. concrete...

I really like the darkwash you did to the belts!

Ahem... I was wondering if you considered clipping the ends of the other buckle and gluing the correct one “in situ” as the pros call it... and have you tried “Gator Grip” yet? Thomas Mayer suggested and showcased its use in his Junkers build. I personally use Canopy Glue. I have used Canopy Glue in places where the “sun don’t shine” such as white metal gear struts (actually has a slight give and take like a tiny shock absorber). A careful set of supports (the jig Torben built for his Anton! Have you seen it? You would like it.) works wonders with slow setting glue.

Today I have only two things to add:
1. I love this picture, because it lets this belt-affair look like it is. That exactly leads us to the next point...


2. I hate doing seat belts!!! No matter if I have to scratch build 'em, or painting the molded ones on resin seats, if color etched, non color etched, fabric...

Ah I see you are from the two-tweezer school of seatbelt assembly. I am from the lesser evolved one-tweezer and two fat fingers academy. Your belts look great, Kari!

That picture I posted of my belts had no weathering on it yet. After crumpling them up with my finger tips and unraveling, they got a little dirty but otherwise no intentional weathering was performed.

This is what my belts look like after the gloss coat/dark wash/flat coat routine...



This is a touch too dirty for me but I'll have to accept it since the material seems to be stained. The newer HGW belts don't have printed stitching on them but there is a very subtle embossing that kind of shows up when you perform a wash on them. I think the crumple routine that I performed compromised the embossing but I can see traces of it when I look under magnification.

Yes, that went also in my mind as an alternative to just clip it off. But, I did not want to take the risk, I was sort of "concerned" (read: afraid) that it would turn out to a mess.. Lessons learned anyhow for the "next build" ! :-)
Regarding Gator Grip, have not tried it all. None of "my" LHS sell Gator Grip, wonder if Thomas ordered it overseas ? Curious, along with Mr Cement S to tried it out! I love glues! :-)

Kari, you order Gator Grip Glue from gatorsmasks.com. Don't do it until spring though; you don't want it to freeze.

I sent a mail to their address to ask delivery costs to Belgium. Let's see the price. I also asked if they have some retailers selling their stuff here in the old world
(they have some other nice stuff as well! )
