Hey!

I was thinking about your wing root gap situation last night because I have a similar issue with the Hasegawa wingspan. The lower piece is definitely flatter than it should be. Last night I took out my travel steamer for clothes and gently heated up the plastic to see if I could get some action. The results seem promising; I was able to add back at least a small amount of flexibility. I don’t know if I can quite close the gap but I would like to keep trying the steamer out to see if this will adjust the dihedral.

I am thinking I might spring for Pacific Coast Models 1/32 Spitfire Mk. IX Type No. 361 which was released in 2008. I believe it still is in production. 70 parts grey plastic. 9 parts clear. 21 resin. Color PE fret. Markings for 6 aircraft.

A very interesting thread Kari - that cockpit looks fantastic. I'll be interested to see what the wingroot gap is once you've fitted said cockpit into the fuselage halves.

That's always the way!

BTW - IIRC the crowbar/hammer thing fitted to the doors were black - not red! That's a postwar restoration thing. That being said - from an artistic veiwpoint the red does look nice.

You should throw the Tamiya IXc into the mix too... state of the art Tamiya molding plus a full engine that's displayable via magnetically attached cowling.

You can get it shipped from Japan for about $97, which probably isn't that much more than the Pacific Coast kit.
