That is super cool, Stuart. Thanks so much for the images! Your memories take me back to being in my uncle’s game room in the basement of his house. Wood paneled walls. Furniture from the Sears catalog. He set the track up on a table he made—my Aunt worked at a lumberyard so he never lacked for building supplies. Those were glorious days, Stuart. I was the shy, quiet kid so it was a chance to let loose.

This project is still very much on my mind, Joe—I will be heading here after the 190 is complete. I have yet to find a decent kit in 1/24 to donate parts to the original car.

Looks like there are plenty on ebay from Minicraft.
To make each build less crappy than the last one. Or, put another way, "Better than the last one, not as good as the next one!"..

Thanks, Lyle! I have to check. The only kit I could find in 1/24 of the 906 was by Yodel. Wait I did find a resin casting but the fella only sells complete kits. It’s a bit crude but I think I can pull the windows from the old Russkit and add those to the Yodel. I would be changing from a soft body slot car to a hard body one, though. At least I would salvage part of the original vac form shell. I dm not sold on this idea yet.

Oh, yes—there are some great kits out there, but I was looking for something a little less pricey.
